Mundaring
Mundaring is a hills township in the Shire of Mundaring, around 35 kilometres east of Perth’s CBD in the Darling Range, with a name derived from a Noongar word believed to mean “a high place on a high place.” The town was declared in 1898, when a spur railway line was constructed to serve the construction of a reservoir for the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme, now known as Mundaring Weir. The weir is at the heart of one of Western Australia’s greatest engineering achievements: the Goldfields Pipeline, which carries water 560 kilometres to Kalgoorlie. The Mundaring Weir Hotel, built in 1898 alongside construction activity, still operates as a heritage hospitality venue. The early railway excursion trade turned Mundaring into Perth’s leading weekend resort destination, with guest houses and holiday cottages filling the valley. The Railway Reserve Heritage Trail, linking the hills from Mundaring to Midland, passes through the townsite and remains one of Perth’s most used recreational trails. Properties in Mundaring range from heritage-era character homes to bush retreats on generous blocks, and bathrooms in older homes here have often never been professionally restored. Grout staining and silicone failure in timber-framed bush homes can allow water damage to progress undetected. The Grout Guy services Mundaring with tile regrouting, leaking shower repair, silicone replacement, and tile and grout sealing. Fixed pricing. No tile removal. A 10-Year Waterproof Warranty on full regrouts. Get in touch today for a Mundaring quote.
