Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is your question about?
Shower Regrouting
- What Is Shower Regrouting?
Shower regrouting involves removing deteriorated grout from between tiles and replacing it with new grout designed for wet areas. This restores the appearance of the shower, improves hygiene and helps prevent water from penetrating behind tiles and damaging surrounding structures.
- How Long Does Shower Regrouting Take?
Most shower regrouting jobs are completed within a single day. The exact timeframe depends on the condition of the existing grout, the size of the shower, the size of the tiles and whether additional repairs are required.
- Can You Just Do The Walls or Floors?
We assess each shower based on its condition and will only recommend the work that’s actually needed. If certain areas don’t require repairs, we’ll let you know. Where issues fall outside our scope, we’ll point you in the direction of the right trade.
- Do Tiles Need To Be Removed To Regrout A Shower?
In most cases, no. Shower regrouting restores failing grout while keeping the existing tiles in place. This allows leaks and deterioration to be addressed without carrying out a full bathroom renovation.
Leaking Shower Repairs
- How Do I Know If My Shower Is Leaking?
Common signs include musty or damp smells, mould growth, water stains outside the bathroom, loose tiles or bubbling paint near wet areas. Some leaks remain hidden, which is why professional inspection is important to confirm the cause.
- Can A Leaking Shower Be Fixed Without Renovating?
Yes. Many leaking showers can be repaired through regrouting and resealing without removing tiles or renovating the bathroom. Addressing the source of water ingress early prevents larger structural damage and costly remediation works later.
- Is Resealing Enough To Fix A Leaking Shower?
Sometimes resealing can help, but many leaks are caused by failing grout or weakened junctions. Simply applying new silicone may only provide a temporary fix, which is why we assess the shower and recommend the most effective long term repair solution.
Tile Regrouting
- When Should Grout Be Replaced?
Grout should be replaced when it becomes cracked, missing, permanently stained or allows moisture to pass through. Replacing deteriorated grout early helps maintain the integrity of tiled surfaces and reduces the risk of leaks or tile damage.
- Can You Regrout Bathroom Tiles Without Removing Them?
Yes. Tile regrouting removes old grout while keeping the existing tiles in place. This process restores the grout joints, improves the appearance of the tiles and helps prevent water penetration without requiring demolition or a full bathroom renovation.
- Is Tile Regrouting Suitable For Floors As Well As Walls?
Yes. Tile regrouting can be carried out on both floor and wall tiles in bathrooms, laundries and other tiled wet areas. Replacing worn grout improves hygiene, restores the finish of the tiles and helps protect against water penetration.
- What Areas Can You Regrout?
We can regrout most tiled areas, both indoors and outdoors, including bathrooms, laundries, kitchens, balconies and full homes. As long as the surface has standard tiles and grout, we can restore it. Mosaic tiles are typically excluded.
Small Tiling Jobs
- What Types Of Small Tiling Jobs Do You Do?
We carry out small tile repairs such as replacing loose, cracked or damaged tiles, often alongside regrouting services. These targeted repairs help to restore the visual appearance and stability of tiled areas.
- Do You Do Full Bathroom Retiling?
No. We specialise in small tiling repairs associated with grout and shower issues, outside of our Victoria branch who are able to offer renovations. For full bathroom retiling or renovation projects, a general tiling contractor is usually the most suitable option.
Real Estate & Property Services
- Do You Work With Property Managers & Real Estate Agencies?
Yes. We regularly work with property managers, real estate agencies and strata managers to repair leaking showers, regrout bathrooms and maintain tiled wet areas in rental properties. Our services help protect bathrooms and reduce maintenance issues across managed properties.
- Can You Complete Repairs Between Tenancies?
Yes. Many of our services are completed between tenancies to ensure bathrooms are properly maintained before new tenants move in. Regrouting and resealing showers during this period improves presentation and reduces the risk of future leaks or maintenance issues.
- Do You Provide Ongoing Maintenance For Managed Properties?
Yes. We support property managers and investors with reliable grout and shower repair services across single properties and managed portfolios. Addressing deteriorating grout and leaking showers early helps prevent water damage and extends the lifespan of bathrooms.
