Shower regrouting involves removing deteriorated grout from between tiles and replacing it with new grout designed for wet areas, typically mould-resistant, polymer-fortified or epoxy grout. This restores the appearance of the shower, improves hygiene and helps prevent water from penetrating behind tiles and damaging surrounding structures.

We also reseal the silicone at the same time, including around the shower screen frame, since a shower is only as watertight as its weakest junction.

Most shower regrouting jobs take between 4 and 6 hours, and the vast majority are completed in a single visit. The exact timeframe depends on the condition of the existing grout, the size of the shower, the size of the tiles and whether additional repairs are required.

We recommend leaving the shower unused for 24 hours after the job to let everything cure properly. Outside that, it’s business as usual.

Yes. We assess each shower based on its condition and will only recommend the work that’s actually needed. If certain areas don’t require repairs, we’ll let you know. Where issues fall outside our scope (plumbing, waterproofing membrane failure), we’ll point you in the direction of the right trade rather than take on work we’re not the right fit for.

In most cases, no. This is one of the biggest things that sets us apart: shower regrouting restores failing grout while keeping the existing tiles in place. This allows leaks and deterioration to be addressed without carrying out a full bathroom renovation, saving you the time, mess and cost of a reno for a problem that’s usually just the grout.

Common signs include musty or damp smells, mould growth, water stains on ceilings or walls outside the bathroom, loose or hollow-sounding tiles, swelling skirting boards and bubbling or peeling paint near wet areas. Most people notice something’s off for weeks before they call, which is completely normal. Some leaks remain hidden behind the tile line entirely, which is why a professional inspection is important to confirm the actual cause rather than guessing and paying for the wrong fix.

Yes. Many leaking showers can be repaired through regrouting and resealing without removing tiles or renovating the bathroom. Addressing the source of water ingress early prevents larger structural damage and costly remediation works later. 

Sometimes. If the silicone itself has failed but the grout underneath is still sound, a reseal alone can solve it. But plenty of leaks are caused by failing grout or weakened junctions that a bead of new silicone will only mask, not fix. That’s why we assess the whole shower before recommending anything, so you get the repair that actually lasts rather than a patch you’ll be paying for again in six months.

Yes. Tile regrouting removes old grout while keeping the existing tiles in place. This process restores the grout joints, improves the appearance of the tiles and helps prevent water penetration without requiring demolition or a full bathroom renovation. 

Yes. Tile regrouting can be carried out on both floor and wall tiles in bathrooms, laundries and other tiled wet areas. Floor grout tends to wear faster underfoot and is exposed to more standing water, so it’s common for us to find floors in worse condition than walls in the same room. Replacing worn grout improves hygiene, restores the finish of the tiles and helps protect against water penetration.

We can regrout most tiled areas, both indoors and outdoors, including bathrooms, laundries, kitchens, balconies and full homes. As long as the surface has standard tiles and grout, we can restore it. Mosaic tiles are typically excluded due to the volume of small grout joints involved, ask us and we’ll let you know if your specific tiles are suitable.

No. We specialise in small tiling repairs associated with grout and shower issues, outside of our Victoria branch who are able to offer renovations. For full bathroom retiling or renovation projects, a general tiling contractor is usually the most suitable option.
