Munster
Munster is a suburb in the City of Cockburn, around 19 kilometres south of Perth’s CBD. The suburb was named in 1954 after Lake Munster, itself named after Prince William, Earl of Munster, and later King William IV. The district had been known informally as South Coogee since the 1870s. The suburb carries significant early colonial history: in January 1830, land at Woodman Point was set aside for a townsite named Clarence, with Lake Munster (now Lake Coogee) at its centre, and the area contains the remains of cottages built by Pensioner Guards in the 1880s. The colonial settlement connected to Thomas Peel’s ill-fated Clarence townsite, one of Western Australia’s most historically significant early settlement attempts. In 2020, parts of Munster were redistributed to form the new suburb of Lake Coogee, with only the eastern portion retaining the Munster name. The suburb today is defined in part by the Cockburn Cement works, which shapes land use in the immediate area. For residential properties in Munster, bathroom maintenance is as necessary as anywhere in Perth’s southern corridor, with grout and silicone deteriorating over time and shower leaks causing structural damage when left unaddressed. The Grout Guy services Munster with tile regrouting, leaking shower repair, silicone replacement, and tile and grout sealing. Fixed pricing. No tile removal. A 10-Year Waterproof Warranty on full regrouts. Contact The Grout Guy today for a Munster quote.
