Nollamara
Nollamara is a northern suburb in the City of Stirling, around 8 kilometres from Perth’s CBD. The name is an Aboriginal word for the black kangaroo paw plant. The area was first granted to William Knight in 1841 and Mary Hutton in 1844, and before World War II the land was used mainly for market gardens and poultry farms. Residential development began in earnest in 1950, when the State Housing Commission commenced construction as part of the broader Mirrabooka satellite city project. The suburb was formally named in 1954, and by 1969 more than 2,500 homes had been built, establishing Nollamara as one of Perth’s significant post-war public housing suburbs. The suburb carries a multicultural community character today, and the Quan The Am Nunnery, a Vietnamese Buddhist temple, is one of its most distinctive landmarks. The water tower adjacent to Mount Yokine reservoir is a recognisable feature on the suburb’s skyline. With construction styles ranging from 1950s timber-framed character houses through to later brick and tile dwellings, bathrooms in Nollamara span a wide range of ages and conditions. In homes from the 1950s and 1960s particularly, grout deterioration and silicone failure are routine. The Grout Guy services Nollamara with tile regrouting, leaking shower repair, silicone replacement, and tile and grout sealing. Fixed pricing. No tile removal.
