Reservoir
Reservoir is a rural suburb in the City of Kalamunda, around 30 kilometres east of Perth’s CBD in the Darling Range, taking its name from the Mundaring Reservoir created when the weir was completed in 1903. The suburb’s identity is inseparable from one of Australia’s greatest engineering achievements: Mundaring Weir, a concrete dam 308 metres long and 40.2 metres high, constructed across the Helena River valley between 1898 and 1903 to supply water to the Goldfields. The Goldfields Water Supply Scheme carried water 530 kilometres by pipeline to Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie, an undertaking championed by C.Y. O’Connor in the face of fierce parliamentary opposition. The scheme was completed in 1903, and the reservoir it created became a landmark of the Perth Hills that continues to draw visitors today. Land around Reservoir was sparsely settled through the nineteenth century, used primarily for timber getting, with the rugged terrain and distance from Perth delaying residential development until infrastructure reached the area. Properties in Reservoir are predominantly older homes on large rural blocks, where bore water use is common and hard water staining in bathroom grout is a persistent issue. The Grout Guy services Reservoir with tile regrouting, leaking shower repair, silicone replacement, and tile and grout sealing. Fixed pricing. No tile removal. A 10-Year Waterproof Warranty on full regrouts. Contact The Grout Guy today for a Reservoir quote.
