North Fremantle
North Fremantle is a historic suburb in the City of Fremantle, sitting on the north bank of the Swan River mouth where it meets the Indian Ocean. The area was originally known as Bruce Town, named after Colonel John Bruce, who arrived in the colony in 1850 as Staff Officer to the Pensioner Force. North Fremantle was declared a municipality in September 1895 and the North Fremantle Town Hall, with its foundation stone laid in September 1902, anchors the suburb’s civic heritage. The suburb amalgamated with Fremantle in 1961. A bridge linking North Fremantle to Fremantle was first constructed in 1869, opening the area to residential development after its early years as a dairy farm. Nine heritage places within the suburb are listed on the State Register of Heritage Places, reflecting its significant built history. The North Fremantle Heritage Trail, a 2.4 kilometre walking circuit developed in collaboration with Whadjuk Elders, passes through the suburb’s historic streetscapes. With homes spanning from colonial-era buildings through to workers’ cottages and later renovations, bathroom tiling in North Fremantle is often original or from the early twentieth century, and grout deterioration in properties of this age can be extensive. The Grout Guy services North Fremantle with tile regrouting, leaking shower repair, silicone replacement, and tile and grout sealing. Fixed pricing. No tile removal. A 10-Year Waterproof Warranty on full regrouts. Get in touch today for a North Fremantle quote.
