Osborne Park
Osborne Park is a suburb in the City of Stirling, around 6 kilometres northwest of Perth’s CBD, named after William Osborne, a butcher and landowner who was elected to the Perth Road Board in 1875. The suburb’s origins lie in a crown grant of 6,020 acres given to T.R.C. Walters in 1840, a portion of which William Osborne purchased after Walters’s death in 1874. In the early twentieth century, Chinese market gardeners were the suburb’s primary residents, supplying vegetables to the metropolitan area; Italian settlers later continued the agricultural tradition on the swampland. Residential development followed World War II, and by the 1980s Osborne Park had transitioned into predominantly industrial and commercial use. Today it is one of Perth’s busiest mixed-use precincts, home to a dense concentration of showrooms, trade suppliers, car dealerships, and offices along Scarborough Beach Road and surrounding streets. Herdsman Lake, a major wildlife sanctuary and wetland reserve, sits at the suburb’s northern edge and draws birdwatchers and walkers year-round. The Main Street café and restaurant precinct is a popular dining destination for residents across the northern suburbs. For the residential properties in Osborne Park’s northeastern section, bathroom maintenance is as relevant as anywhere in the corridor.
