Parmelia
Parmelia is a suburb in the City of Kwinana, named after the most historically significant ship in Western Australian history: the Parmelia, a barque built in Quebec in 1825, was the first vessel to arrive at the Swan River Colony in June 1829, carrying Governor James Stirling, his wife Ellen, and the colony’s first civilian officials and settlers. Development of the Parmelia suburb commenced in 1952, and the suburb became known in later decades for housing managers and executives from BP’s Kwinana Oil Refinery. The refinery, which commenced operations in 1955, shaped the entire Kwinana corridor’s development and provided the economic engine for the surrounding residential suburbs. The suburb sits at the centre of a broader $340 million Kwinana city centre revitalisation project, signalling significant investment in the area’s future. The original Parmelia barque made two subsequent convict transport voyages after its historic 1829 arrival before being irreparably damaged by fire in May 1839. Homes in Parmelia predominantly date from the 1970s, and bathrooms from this era commonly carry grout staining, silicone failure, and the accumulated wear of several decades. The Grout Guy services Parmelia with tile regrouting, leaking shower repair, silicone replacement, and tile and grout sealing. Fixed pricing. No tile removal. A 10-Year Waterproof Warranty on full regrouts. Book a Parmelia quote today.
