Queens Park
Queens Park is a suburb in the City of Canning, around 11 kilometres southeast of Perth’s CBD. The suburb was originally known as Woodlupine until 1911, when following a murder in the area a community decision was made to rename it Queens Park in honour of Queen Alexandra, wife of King Edward VII. The land along the Canning River corridor here was cared for by the Whadjuk Noongar people long before European settlement. The suburb’s most significant historical institution was Sister Kate’s Children’s Home, founded by Katherine Mary Clutterbuck in 1934 and expanded in 1936, which provided care for Aboriginal and mixed-heritage children during the era of government removal policies. The site is now recognised as a significant place in Western Australian history. Queens Park railway station on the Armadale Line connects residents directly to the Perth network. In 2020, plans were announced to build a State Football Centre in Queens Park, representing significant new investment in the suburb. With housing predominantly from the post-war decades through to the 1970s, bathrooms in Queens Park homes commonly show grout staining and silicone deterioration. The Grout Guy services Queens Park with tile regrouting, leaking shower repair, silicone replacement, and tile and grout sealing. Fixed pricing. No tile removal. A 10-Year Waterproof Warranty on full regrouts. Book a Queens Park quote today.
