Sawyers Valley
Sawyers Valley lies along the Great Eastern Highway about 40 kilometres from Perth, sitting at the north-eastern corner of Beelu National Park in the Perth Hills. The name comes directly from the occupation of the suburb’s earliest European settlers, sawyers who worked the local timber in the 1860s, many of them former convicts or men on conditional release. The community grew around a sawmill and railway siding built to process jarrah from the surrounding Helena River forests. The Sawyers Valley Tavern, established in 1882 and now listed on Western Australia’s Heritage Register, is one of the few Art Deco style buildings in the Shire of Mundaring and remains a social focal point for the district. The railway station, built in 1884, is another reminder of the area’s industrial origins. Today, Sawyers Valley is a semi-rural community within the Shire of Mundaring, popular with residents who want space, trees and a quieter pace within a reasonable drive of the city. The hills setting means homes experience more moisture and temperature variation than metro suburbs, which accelerates grout deterioration in showers and wet areas. Leaking showers, cracked silicone and stained grout are common maintenance concerns in older rural and semi-rural properties. The Grout Guy services Sawyers Valley with tile regrouting, leaking shower repairs, silicone replacement and tile and grout sealing. Complete regrouts include a 10-Year Waterproof Warranty.
