Stoneville
Stoneville is a small community in the Perth Hills, within the Shire of Mundaring about 31 kilometres east of the city. The suburb sits between Parkerville and Mount Helena along the old timber railway corridor, and its name comes from a private railway siding established by timber merchants Adams and Dowie in the early 1900s. Local residents named the siding Stoneville in 1905, reportedly in honour of Sir Edward Albert Stone, Chief Justice of Western Australia at the time. The area was developed initially for fruit growing, and the orchard character of the hills influenced how the land was settled and subdivided. Stoneville Hall, at the corner of Stoneville Road and Riley Road, is one of the suburb’s historic landmarks, a community gathering point since at least the late 1920s. The surrounding landscape is bush and bushland reserve typical of the inner Perth Hills, with jarrah and marri woodland giving the area a very different feel from the metropolitan suburbs below. Stoneville has a recorded population of around 2,400, and most homes are acreage or semi-rural properties with generous block sizes. Hills properties often experience greater moisture fluctuation and temperature extremes than metro homes, which accelerates grout and silicone deterioration in wet areas. The Grout Guy services Stoneville for tile regrouting, leaking shower repairs, silicone replacement and tile and grout sealing. Complete regrouts include a 10-Year Waterproof Warranty.
