Swanbourne
Swanbourne is an affluent western coastal suburb in the City of Nedlands, bordered by Cottesloe to the south and the Indian Ocean to the west. The suburb was originally called Osborne but was renamed Swanbourne in 1921 after an ambulance was misdirected to the wrong suburb with serious consequences. The name references Swanbourne House in Buckinghamshire, the family seat of Thomas Fremantle, brother of Charles Fremantle, for whom the city of Fremantle was named. Swanbourne is perhaps best known as the home of Campbell Barracks, the base of the Australian Special Air Service Regiment, which occupies a significant portion of land in the suburb. The Cottesloe Golf Club’s 18-hole course runs through the suburb, and Swanbourne Beach sits at the suburb’s western boundary. Allen Park contains sporting facilities including tennis courts, a football and cricket ground, and a rugby pitch, and also houses the relocated Tom Collins House. Scotch College, one of Perth’s major independent schools for boys, is a prominent institution within the suburb. The housing stock in Swanbourne is a mix of renovated Federation-era homes and newer infill development, with the older properties carrying bathrooms that often need significant grout and silicone work. The Grout Guy handles tile regrouting, leaking shower repairs, silicone replacement and tile and grout sealing across Swanbourne. Complete regrouts include a 10-Year Waterproof Warranty.
