Treeby
Treeby is a relatively new suburb in the City of Cockburn, created in 2016 from the northern portion of Banjup. It was named after Joseph and Emma Treeby, Cockburn pioneers who settled in the area in the 1890s and established a market garden of over 14 hectares growing cauliflower and cabbage. During the gold rush, the area became a significant food production zone serving the booming Perth population. The Whadjuk Noongar people lived across this country for tens of thousands of years before European settlement, and their presence is woven into the broader landscape of the Cockburn district. Today, Treeby is a growing residential community centred on the Calleya residential estate, developed on former sand-mined land and positioned alongside the Jandakot Regional Park to the north. Rose Shanks Reserve provides a habitat corridor for native fauna, including rare birds, on the suburb’s southern boundary. The Jandakot Regional Park spreads across banksia woodland and wetlands on the suburb’s northern edge, giving residents direct access to natural open space. Banjup Memorial Park, where a gum tree was planted for each of the fourteen local men who enlisted in World War I, sits nearby as a place of remembrance. New homes in Treeby’s estate developments still develop bathroom maintenance issues over time. The Grout Guy services Treeby for tile regrouting, leaking shower repairs, silicone replacement and tile and grout sealing. Complete regrouts include a 10-Year Waterproof Warranty.
