Tuart Hill is a compact, multicultural suburb in the City of Stirling, about 9 kilometres north of the Perth CBD. The suburb takes its name from the stands of tuart trees (Eucalyptus gomphocephala) that grew extensively across the area and were a well-known landmark to travellers moving through the district in the 19th century. The land was originally part of a large crown grant taken by T. R. C. Walters in 1840, and the area remained sparsely developed until after World War II, when Tuart Hill filled out rapidly into the established suburban neighbourhood it is today.
