Wattleup
Wattleup is a southern suburb of Perth in the City of Cockburn, named after Wattleup Road, a local road that dates to 1931. The suburb name was formally approved in May 1962. Historically, the area was known for its market gardens, which supplied fresh produce to the town of Fremantle, and the original Wattleup townsite sat at the western end of the suburb at the intersection of Wattleup Road and Rockingham Road. From the mid-1990s onwards, the suburb was progressively affected by the Hope Valley-Wattleup Redevelopment Project, known as Latitude 32, which rezoned much of the area for industrial use. As a result, Wattleup today is a transitional suburb, with industrial activity and light industrial precincts alongside remaining residential pockets. Thomsons Lake Nature Reserve, about 25 kilometres south of the CBD, provides a significant natural asset in the broader Cockburn area, with the lake system forming part of the regional open space network. Kogolup Lake sits 4 kilometres northeast of the suburb. For homeowners remaining in the residential areas of Wattleup, bathroom maintenance can be easily overlooked. Grout that has cracked or stained and silicone that has pulled away from shower recesses are common problems in this area. The Grout Guy provides tile regrouting, leaking shower repairs, silicone replacement and tile and grout sealing in Wattleup and surrounds. Complete regrouts include a 10-Year Waterproof Warranty.
