West Leederville
West Leederville is an inner suburb of Perth in the Town of Cambridge, sitting about 3 kilometres west of the CBD. The suburb was carved out of the original Leederville in 1973, when construction of the Mitchell Freeway physically divided Leederville and separated the lake precinct from the eastern side. West Leederville was formally gazetted as its own suburb in 1998. The suburb traces its residential origins to the subdivision of William Henry Leeder’s estate from 1891, with most of the residential land subdivided before 1903. The Leederville Town Hall and Recreation Complex on Cambridge Street, designed in 1916, is a significant heritage landmark and still functions as a community hub. Holyrood Street, lined with Federation-style cottages, was the first heritage-listed street in the Town of Cambridge, recognised with art deco light boxes projecting historic images on street trees at its entrance. The Home of the Good Shepherd Convent, established in 1903, is another heritage presence. Lake Monger Drive provides quick access to the lake and its walking and cycling paths. West Leederville is a creative, characterful suburb popular with professionals and families who want inner-city proximity. Federation-era and inter-war homes here frequently carry original bathroom tiling with grout and silicone that has been in place for many decades. The Grout Guy provides tile regrouting, leaking shower repairs, silicone replacement and tile and grout sealing. Complete regrouts include a 10-Year Waterproof Warranty. Book with The Grout Guy today.
